If you're about to buy chinos

If you were by chance debating between getting the Lands End chino (you know, because you want to save the $10) or the Banana chino (you know, because Banana actually knows how to make some decent apparel), here's my advice: Get the Banana chino. Simply, it will last longer and look better . How do I know? A year ago I bought a pair of Bananas and this past April I bought a pair of LEs. At this stage, after both have seen a good amount of mileage (Bananas actually more, bc they were bought earlier) and have gone through at least 40 washes, the Bananas are looking and feeling quite good whereas the LEs are starting to look like crap. By the Bananas, the pant fabric doesn't show any signs of wear or fading. They did shrink a bit, but that's it. The LEs on the other hand, have started to lose their color and are showing serious signs of a few laundrys too many. I'm talking about cotton hairs/fuzz coming out from the surface of the fabric. Not cool. I do have to say that the LEs are navy and the Bananas beige, which would make fading more apparent in the LEs, but in terms of fabric texture and quality that wouldn't excuse any discrepancy between the brands.
